Build a total, not a guess
Use this formula: nights × nightly room rate + fees and taxes + tickets and extras + food + travel. Compare complete totals for the same people and dates. There is no reliable universal price for a Dells weekend.
Hotel prices, availability, occupancy, and packages change. Instead of publishing a misleading starting price, this worksheet lets you use the quotes you find. The sample amounts below are illustrative inputs only; they are not current resort rates, average prices, or an offer.
Your trip-cost worksheet
Resort package or separate tickets?
Make two columns. In the first, price a resort stay and add only the experiences that are not included. In the second, price alternative lodging plus the exact tickets you would buy. Include the same travelers and dates in both. A room that costs less can still produce a more expensive trip if you add admission and transport; a resort package can also include things you will not use.
Ask the hotel to explain the specific package on the quote. Confirm how many guests it covers, which days admission applies to, and whether extra activities are separate. Do not assume a listing with a similar hotel name carries the same benefits as a package on the property's own site.
Three comparisons worth making
- Compare dates. If you have flexibility, obtain complete quotes for more than one date combination. Let those quotes show whether a change helps.
- Compare room arrangements. One larger room and two smaller rooms can create different totals and different cancellation obligations. Check occupancy rules and every fee.
- Compare what you will actually use. A kitchen is only valuable if you plan to prepare food. Included activities only replace ticket costs if your group intends to do them.
Keep a little unallocated spending room rather than treating the worksheet as a promise. The purpose is to make tradeoffs visible before the trip.
Read the final booking terms
Before paying, review the final provider checkout page for taxes, mandatory fees, payment timing, cancellation conditions, and the room type. Save the reservation confirmation and package details. If a booking site leaves an important inclusion unclear, confirm it with the property before making the purchase.
Then put the trip back into perspective. Choosing one experience you really want, a practical room, and a comfortable pace may be more valuable than trying to fit everything into one weekend. Use our weekend guide to turn the budget into a workable plan.
